We believe that Design and Technology makes an important contribution to the education of all children. It is a subject that encourages pupils to be innovative and creative problem solvers whilst developing skills that they will use throughout their lives as well as supporting their learning in many other subjects. Through ‘Design and make it’ tasks we encourage pupils to:
To become independent thinkers
Design and make quality products using a variety of materials
Draw on a wide range of knowledge to solve problems in relevant, real life contexts
Consider the needs of the user when designing products and the impact of decisions on the wider world
Develop an enterprising attitude, take risks
Learn from developments and iterations of design; never fearing failure but using to learn

Resistant Materials
Exceptional Wood and metal workshops aford our pupils the opprtunity to work with a large array of materials and techniques, from traditional wood working joints such as Comb and dovetail joints, machines like Pillar drill's & morticers as well as casting, welding and soldering. All these combine together to make our KS3 curriculum exciting and exploratory. Whether or not the students choose to do Design and Technology at KS4, we know at KS3 they learn how the world around them is made and therefore value it all the more!
